Casimir Jones is proud to support ReSpectacle, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is transforming lives through an innovative approach to eyeglass recycling. Founded in 2011, ReSpectacle was created as an online eyeglass recycling platform to address the critical global need for accessible vision correction.

Through its online database, ReSpectacle allows individuals, clinics, and aid organizations to search and request gently used prescription glasses that have been carefully matched and catalogued. Thanks to this pioneering system and a nationwide network of volunteers (including over 30 local chapters in the USA), over 50,000 individuals worldwide have received the gift of better vision from ReSpectacle – some for the very first time.

We are honored to contribute to ReSpectacle’s mission through our pro bono legal services and to help support their continued growth and impact in underserved communities around the world.

Dr. Schlueter shared his story of how he got involved with ReSpectacle:

“I first met ReSpectacle Founder Dr. Jeff Lynch, MD, MPH, during our undergraduate studies, where we were both biology majors. He was also my brother’s college roommate. Years later, while I was in my third year of law school, Jeff approached me for assistance with the formation of his nonprofit organization, ReSpectacle. He needed support with the 501(c)(3) application process and had several intellectual property-related questions. I was eager to contribute and ultimately structured the work as part of a formal law school externship.

ReSpectacle is a remarkable organization that provides prescription-matched eyewear to individuals in need. Over the years, I have read countless testimonials from recipients whose lives were positively impacted by receiving a high-quality pair of glasses—often at a time when they were facing significant personal challenges. It is a powerful reminder of the impact a single act of service can have.

Our ongoing pro bono support for ReSpectacle is one small way we are proud to contribute to its mission. I have great respect for Jeff’s unwavering dedication to keeping ReSpectacle a free service, despite having had opportunities to commercialize the organization. Balancing grant applications, a full-time medical practice, and family life, his commitment to service is both admirable and inspiring.”
